Old Rothenburg Beer Stein With Wood Lid

A panorama drawing of the old medieval German city of Rothenburg (Rotenburg), well known for its well-preserved and romantic medieval buildings, is shown on this stein’s wrap-around decoration. The scene is carefully hand colored and depicts the city in olden times. A map key between the relief castle towers on the front lists the important landmarks with letters that correspond to the letters on the drawing. This unique stein has a lathe turned wooden top set into a pewter lid. The banner reads “Rotenburg an der Tauber”, which translates as: Rothenburg at the Tauber (River).
